Ideal timing
- Second trimester: strong for early planning
- Third trimester: common and still a great time to book
- Last-minute postpartum: sometimes possible, but availability may be limited
The best time to hire a postpartum doula is usually during pregnancy, ideally as soon as you know you want support in the first weeks after birth.

You can still reach out. Some families book after birth when they realize they need more recovery support, sleep support, or newborn guidance. Availability depends on the current schedule, so it helps to say if your need is urgent.
If you think postpartum support might help, it is usually better to ask earlier rather than wait until you are overwhelmed. The intake form makes it easier to see what options are realistic.
Use the intake form and share your due date or baby’s age, plus whether you want day or overnight support.
